2008 Island Blackball Championships
CJ's Pool Hall, Rosyth, Scotland was once again chosen to host the Islands Blackball Association Championship. Thanks to Daz and Tracy from CJ's and all their staff for really pushing the boat out for us this year. They arranged for late licences which I know was no easy feat, provided the venue free of charge, and kept the food and drink flowing the whole weekend. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we are greatly appreciative of the hard work they put in to ensure that our event was a success.
The tournament started on Friday 24th October 2008 and finished on Sunday 26th October, 2007. There was both individual and team events. This year teams from Shetland, Gibraltar, Isle of Man and Orkney took part. The weather played a negative part in this year's event, delaying orkney's arrival , but in good IBA style we all demonstrated, as is inherent in most islanders, flexibility, understanding and patience at the need to re-jig the programme accordingly.
The main events consisted of two separate Team Tournaments (One Ladies/One Men’s), of 7-player teams, with a maximum of 2 reserves in each team. The 2008 Championship Programme from this event can be viewed HERE
