IBA 2009 - 22-25 October, Hull, England |

|
The IBA Committee is delighted to announce that the 2009 Championships will be held in Hustlers Pool Hall, Kingston Upon Hull which has been owned and operated for the last 6 years by Phill & Mag who are no strangers to staging pool events having already hosted two IPA ladies pro tour events, the Yorshire grand prix and the Humberside Open, to name but a few. Having visited and played in the venue 2 or 3 times over the last 3 years I can assure you that Phill & Mag are wonderful hosts. They have 13 very-well-cared-for tables of an excellent standard which, they have advised, will be re-covered especially for our event and new pool balls will be provided. Hot food will be available throughout the event, there is a bar area with a great atmosphere which I'm sure will be well used, and Phill & Mags are happy to do whatever they can to help make our 3rd annual championship event a major success. With 13 tables, play should not be so hectic as it has been over the previous 2 years, so that will allow for more time to relax and/or socialise.
Accommodation has been secured for all players just over the road at the Express by Holiday Inn, Ferensway Road, Kingston Upon Hull. Again, having stayed there in April, I can vouch for the standard of the hotel. It has a lovely big bar area where I am sure we will while away the small hours catching up with old friends and forging new ones. The standard is the same as we had in Dunfermline last year with lovely rooms so you are assured of a comfortable stay in good quality surroundings. The train station is just along the road, as are all the shops, cafes, bars, and clubs that you could want.
I'm sure, like me, you are all looking forward to the 2009 Championships and to welcoming the representatives of our newest nation, Tenerife. I look forward to seeing you there. Sandra Pearson IBA President

SPONSOR WANTED
The Islands Blackball Association have just completed their 2nd extremely successful International Championships and, with new island nations seeking to join, are moving in line with their tracked growth programme to become THE premiere annual event for islands and small nations in the world of blackball pool.
The cost of running the event, trophies, accommodation and travel is currently met in its entirety by our players. To ensure that this event is affordable to all members, we are seeking sponsorship, ideally on a 3-5 year basis.
If you are a sponsor looking for a project, this is one of the best you will find. Whilst still in its infancy, the Association is going from strength to strength with good professional standards and corporate governance processes already in place. If you want to support a sound and growing body that will ultimately be recognised throughout the world, please contact the IBA president at

|

The Association shall be named as : Islands Blackball Association ( Founded 2007 ). The Association will organise an annual small island/peninsula Blackball Rules Pool Championship, at a central venue, with relatively easy access for participants. In future, the I.B.A. could represent the voice of the small islands in the world of Blackball Pool, and have a stronger influence when deciding major changes in the future of our sport. Furthermore, the I.B.A., with a selection from all the islands, could even play a testimonial match against any of the Big Pool Nations, and maybe WIN!...... |
